SPACE MARINES: PRIMARIS APOTHECARY

Primaris Apothecary is a battlefield medic for Space Marines in Warhammer 40,000. Among the most honoured warriors of a Chapter, Apothecaries are responsible for safeguarding the physical well-being of their battle-brothers and ensuring the continued survival of their Chapter.

On the battlefield they act as medics, tending to wounded Space Marines and returning them to the fight where possible. Their most vital duty, however, concerns the fallen – an Apothecary can harvest the valuable progenoid organs from a slain Space Marine, ensuring that new warriors can be created and the Chapter’s genetic legacy preserved.

Clad in Mk X power armour, the Primaris Apothecary carries an array of specialised medical tools and relics. Several canopic jars hang from his chest plate, sealed with purity seals and filled with progenoid organs that have passed his careful inspection.

In his right hand he holds a freshly harvested organ, while his left arm bears a narthecium, the surgical instrument used to perform his duties on the battlefield. This can alternatively be replaced with an absolver pistol.

The kit also includes a number of detailed accessories such as lamps, surgical inspection lenses and servo arms with various tools. A slain Space Marine is included as a narrative base detail, showing the grim work of the Apothecary in action.

ON THE BATTLEFIELD

Primaris Apothecaries are used when Space Marines require medical support in the midst of battle.

Their presence allows valuable units to remain effective for longer, restoring wounded warriors and maintaining the fighting strength of the force. At the same time they ensure that the genetic legacy of their Chapter is preserved even when a warrior falls.

An Apothecary therefore serves as both a support character and a vital part of many Space Marine armies.
