From Reaper's Warlord Expansion, The Savage North: Clad in the finest dwarven mail and tattooed with the runes of Life, Glory, and Honor, the dreaded Rune Warrior is the most revered order of warriors in the armies of Kragmarr. The position comes with great prestige, such that every thane hopes his son or daughter will one day earn the right to bear the title of Rune Warrior. Each year, the rune priests of Kragmarr select only the most worthy and capable of warriors of Kragmarr’s elite with the honor of becoming a rune warrior and wielding a sacred rune weapon in battle. These mighty rune weapons are revered relics of dwarfdom, all wielded and handed down by great dwarf heroes of old. These sacred items are kept safe in a magically protected vault beneath Splinter Peak. In battle, a rune weapon erupts in arcane energies, shattering hostile magics and filling enemies with dread. One such Rune Warrior is the stalwart dwarf Dhulrekk Thulfinson. Dhulrekk has lived up to the ideals of his position for more than a century. Dhulrekk is well aware that his position is for life, and in time, he will fall. He accepts these facts with dignity and humor, but until that day, he will make war on the enemies of Kragmarr.
